Same heritage, lighter feel. The Lightweight Irvin keeps everything iconic about the original, authentic sheepskin, heavyweight brass zip, impeccable British craftsmanship, but with a pared-back construction for ease and everyday wear. All Irvin lightweight jackets are made in 15mm wool.

This version skips the sleeve zips and waist belt, using a lighter sheepskin that’s ideal for driving, travelling, or simply adding quiet attitude to your wardrobe. Still made in the UK. Still unmistakably Irvin.

Sheepskin
This jacket is hand tailored from specially prepared sheepskins with 15mm wool, which are light in weight and more supple than those used in the making of the traditional Irvin flying jacket. This is a very warm jacket that is superbly comfortable to wear. Sheepskin is a natural product, they do have spots in the fur, some grain marks and the leather can be naturally ribbed with lines.

Colour
Brown sheepskin. Inside colour is "Warm Honey" (sheepskin is a natural material and some colour variations are to be expected).

Pockets
Each jacket has 2 outside and 2 inside pockets.

Seams
All seams are overlock stitched and bound with double stitched soft leather.

Cuffs/Waistband
Rollback cuffs with side zip and a waistband with flap and press stud adjustment to the sides.

Zip
Heavy-duty brass.

Identification/Authentication
This classic British flying jacket is the real thing. Each jacket bears an authentic Irvin, woven label. This unique label is sewn into each jacket as your assurance that the jacket is a genuine Irvin Lightweight Flying Jacket from Aviation Leathercraft.

This jacket includes the exclusive Irvin Lightweight label.

Please note: Jackets are cut either 'regular' or 'long'. 'Long' does not mean a longer jacket it generally is only applicable to clients who are over 6 foot (183cms)

If we have the correct size in stock it will be shipped within 7 working days. If we do not have your jacket we will let you know. Please bear in mind that each of our jackets is lovingly made by hand.

All sheepskin garments with a 'leather look' have a sprayed on finish. This is true of every brand available on the market, and the finish will wear to a suede-like appearance over time. This finish is colourfast under normal circumstances.

However, certain solvents on hands or surfaces can slightly damage the dark brown finish in a way that the colour could run. These solvents include: Leather seat treatments, hand creams, perfumes, petrol, oils, etc. Seat belts can also 'rub' the surface causing a mark, over time.

Do not dry clean, you will need to find a specialist sheepskin cleaner to clean your item. For small areas and patch cleaning, use a very dilute baby shampoo sparingly over the 'wool' area and allow to dry naturally. Once dry you can carefully tease out the wool with a pet comb (don't touch the 'leather-like' surface as this will scratch). For the outer surface of the jacket use a wax based leather food very sparingly and gently wipe over.

Don't use a chemical/solvent leather cleaner or saddle soap as the outer surface is NOT leather. Store out of direct sunlight and away from a heat source.

Do not store in polythene, a small, old cotton duvet cover or similar is ideal.
